My doggie brida…

30 May

My doggie bridal/formal apparel line has been completed with listing of the lime and white striped satin cravat-style tie, which matches the lime satin dress and can be worn with the black polyester dupioni tux (see photo). It was Favorite’d just minutes after I listed it!

Now that those garments are finished I’m returning to Victorian styles for the females.  What’s next is top-secret until I list it.  I’ll say one thing, though – it’ll have the word “Victorian written all over it, so to speak.  I love Victorian clothing styles and interiors; there’s nothing as feminine, in my opinion, as that.  I’m passionate about flowers, too, and my fave is the rose, which is wonderful for Victorian styles.  When you look at my Shop, you can tell I’m partial to it!

From what I’ve heard, people start buying winter clothes in August (when it’;s hot and muggy here in Florida), which will be here before we know it, so I have some fleece and flannel fabric on order from Joann.  It should arrive early this coming week, so aside from sewing custom orders I’ll be wrapping up my summer garment production by mid-June.

That’s all for now.  Have a glorious day, and give your little dogs, if you have any, a big hug from Dominique and me.

29 May

My white, green and hot pink cotton polka-dotted dog dress now has the greatest number of Favorites – nine- of all my summer items!  That tops the Desert Blossoms dress, which has eight.  A photo will appear shortly.

I’ve been having a terrible time trying to navigate a new Facebook page I set up yesterday, a page unrelated to my dog apparel business, and when I’ve posted appeals for help with that on Etsy’s Forums, respondents have expressed agreement that it’s often very frustrating.  Why, oh why, can’t they make it easier???  It’s like trying to travel through a rat’s maze or solve Rubik’s Cube!  I have no idea what my FB URL is for that page, and when I posted an appeal for help with that on one of the Forums, I was advised to look for something o”on my page.”  Thjat caused another question to form in my mind: how do I find my page?  Again, I entered a post on the Forum to try to find out.

The next item on my agenda for today is sewing and listing at least one of the two cravat-style ties to go with the dog tuxedo and lime bridesmaid’s dress.

Bye for now.  Have a nice day!

28 May

I hope you and your pets are having a wonderful three-day weekend!  If your dogs are like Dominique and you’re barbecuing weenies, they’ll go nuts at the smell.  She sure does!  As for myself, I can’t wait until Tuesday, when the post office will reopen so I can ship the dog shirt and dress to the lady who bought them; they’re ready for shipping.

Holidays are enjoyable for many folks, but I’m not crazy about the inconvenience they create, with closure of post offiices etc.  And the three-day weekend occasionally throws my sense of timing off.  That happened to me this time, so until mid-afternoon today I thought it was Saturday, which caused me to miss my religious gathering.  Was I mad!  Back to normal Tuesday, thankfully.

A while ago I listed the latest addition to my doggie bridal/formal wear line, a lime green satin dress with a bow across the “waist.”  I’ll upload a photo as soon as I’m finished typing this.

Have a glorious weekend, everyone!  Be back soon.

Light Teal Cravat-Style Tie

Yesterday I lis…

26 May

Yesterday I listed the first of the two cravat-style ties,  the companion piece to the dog tuxedo and the light aqua Chinese Brocade doggie bridesmaid’s/formal occasion dress, which is made of the same fabric.  Once I finish sewing the custom order I’ll start on the lime green satin bridesmaid’s/formal occasion dress.

Sewing of the custom shirt is progressing well, and I’m having to make sure that the shoulder areas fit as well as the neck and chest , since it would be easy to overlook that area and consequently end up something that’s tight in that area, which would be uncomfortable for the dog.  That’s one reason many Shops including mine ask custom buyers to allow 3-5 days turnaround time before the item is shipped; that way, if something doesn’t seem right the first time, we have time to do it over so we can end up with a satisfied buyer.  As I’ve said before, part of my mission in life is to make people (and their pets) happy.

Here in Florida it’s getting hot, so on account of Dominique’s long, fluffy hair – her tail fur measures eight inches in length – I don’t put clothes on her aside from our brief photo shoots on my lawn when I’m getting ready to list something on Etsy.  Otherwise, her built-in fur coat is enough.

She’s about due for another bath.  After each one, by the time she’s dry she smells like a pink grapefruit – yummy! – because a while back, at WalMart I bought a set of pink grapefruit-scented dog shampoo, spray-on coat detangler (which also works on my long hair) and body spray.  I later found out to my dismay that the manufacturer had discontinued it, which was why it was only $5.00 (at that price I had a feeling something was up).  Once I run low on them, I’ll have to look around for something similar; I love potpourri scent on everything.

Have a great weekend!
